OOOOUUCH!!!!!!!!!!!

THIS WAS UNCOMFORTABLE!!!!

Oh no, no. Not sewing up the Farbenmix Olivia. That was a breeze. CUTTING the EUROPEAN FABRIC was so very uncomfortable. UNCOMFORTABLE!

Whew! Okay I got that out of me.

This month I have been working on breaking out of my comfort zone. For the most part that has meant doing things I do not normally do creatively. But as I worked through those projects, I thought about what else it could mean to 'work outside my comfort zone' and images of my European fabrics popped in my head. This is just the beginning. It IS going to happen this winter and spring. I am going to sew down my Euro stash. My daughter is not getting any younger and I bought these with her in mind. It is high time I sew them up before she looks at me like I am an alien if I ask her to wear what I made. I think I have another year. I surely hope so! I hope longer but you never know.  She still loves Hanna Anderssen so I think we are in the clear for now. That's what I keep telling myself...

She DOES like these new dresses. I am glad. I have made her a Farbenmix Olivia before and she STILL pulls it out every winter but the main fabric was fading and so I thought she might like some new ones.

I LOOOOOVE this sweet  Mushroom fabric. Just darling! The pink is the most perfect pink and the red mushroom tops go so well with the red with white polka dot fabric.

All these fabrics in both dresses and the pattern came from Banberry Place. Well except for one fabric.

The gray fabric in the hoodie above is an old skirt of mine.I bought it at Target, they have them every year in case your are needing a half yard or so of that color gray knit. Hey sometimes you have to re-purpose  when you cannot find what you need! Oh and she picked the shoes. I brought them out to see if they would match and she grabbed them and put them  and that was then end of that. I have to compromise some right? Right!

Banberry Place is the BEST U.S. resource for European fabric. The absolute best. If you like the Olivia dress but need knit in a different price point, Banberry Place offers an amazing collection of domestic knits! Really awesome selection! So go check her out! The pattern can be found in the Farbenmix section of her website. She has a TON of great Euro patterns. You really need to get over there pronto and check it all out!

  2. I know the feeling! So funny, I finished my outfit out of that cameo print last week too. I'll be posting it Thursday for Project Run & Play. I LOVE that print!! What is the print you paired with it? I only bought a half yard, so I may need more to make something for Tandy. Your hood on the mushroom dress is so adorable.

  5. Super cute Olivia dresses. It's a favourite here. Moo is too tall for the pattern (she's 8cm past 140), except for the fact that I've drafted up the next size...but after that.

Mollie turns 10 this year, and thankfully she still likes the Euro style and fabrics, but like you I really, really need to cut into and sew from my stash of Euro fabrics.

  6. The fabrics and the dresses so pretty!
I also have a small stash of special fabrics, that I've been avoiding till now, Luckily I'll have my little one to sew to with them!
And your girl looks so grown up!
My 9 years old already refuses dresses! so yes, take davantage of whatever time left that your girl is willing to wear dresses!
