Have you seen the cute little crochet edged pillowcases in Happy Home? Oh the book tells you exactly how to create those beautiful scallops, the pillowcase, the works but the problem for me is I have TRIED AND TRIED to learn to crochet and well, my crochet does not turn out like those on the pretty pillowcases. SO guess what I resort to? Ready made crochet trim!!!
How did I attach the crochet trim? Why I took pictures to show you! Yay!
Here you can see my trim from the back. "Whoa that some wavy sewing there Jenny!" Hey! It's THE BACK PEOPLE! I don't obsess about backs or insides of things. I just want them to wash up without fraying everywhere. Now I WILL say I like how the pillowcases are finished in the Happy Home book better because they look really nice when your pillowcases fall open on your bed. I had already started cutting out pillowcases before I received the book. I, ahem, have a UFO issue...
For the flowers I zig zag stitched those on too! You can stitch an X on them to make it more secure.
After I sew on my trim I sew up the pillowcase and I am finished! These pillowcases are great quick projects using premade trim. They are perfect for gifts.
I used Riley Blake trim because it's so pretty and vibrant and readily available here at Granmas Treasures! I know she is trying to get all the colors so ask if she does not have the piece you are seeking.
I used my absolute favorite fabrics for the pillowcases. Jennifer Paganelli's Crazy Love! Did you know they had to reprint it back in May it sold so quickly!? WHOA! Apparently I am not the only one that is ga ga for it! The 'framed' aka tacked to the wall behind the frame fabric is the gorgeous Super Fly Zebra by Jennifer Paganelli. The Super Fly prints are selling like hotcakes too apparently so you better grab some when you see it. Marie Madeline Studio has a good sampling of both lines. I WON a big ole' stack of Super Fly, Crazy Love and Girl's World Vibe through her Photo Challenge. I TOLD you to enter didn't I !?! I have already made a dress out of the orange zebra from Super Fly and I cannot wait to show you! The J pillow is courtesy of Sweet Melissa Peda of 100 Billon Stars. Love that girl!
This is one of the three tutorials I have mentione here and on Facebook so one down two to go. I will be back with that ruffle dress tutorial soon!
