So you can have an empty can! I saw a can similar to this on the Portobellopixie blog last winter and thought it was a cute idea. She Mod Podged the fabric and spray painted the interior of the can. Super cute idea! So I bring you my version of the fabric decorated can!
So I started out with a clean can and measured the height of the can and cut the fabric.
Then I eyeballed wrapping the fabric around the can and cut accordingly. I hot glued the fabric down along the seam.
I embellished the can, added some flower topped pens(my daughter made the flower pens) and voila! Pretty pens with a pretty holder!
If your can is going to be handled a lot make sure you have either embellished the top and bottom so that the edges of the fabric have been glued down otherwise the raw edges of the can will ravel over time. I made a can like this for my daughter's teacher as a gift and it sits out where the kids have access to it and the edges have been fine so far. But if you are really concerned about it, make sure the edges are glued OR just Mod Podge the whole thing! Easy peasy no worries and don't sweat it!

I love the decorated can and the decorated pens!!! Adorable!!
ReplyDeleteAnd wouldn't it be pretty edged in Riley Blake crochet trims?
