Better Homes and Gardens Embroidery, A Book Review

Better Homes and Gardens Embroidery book published and available at Wiley is a beautiful collection of embroidery projects. From embroidering wooden objects to creating lampshades, this book breaks the traditional embroidery barrier and offers thirty-five projects. Some projects are seasonal while many are for year round use, you are sure to find something compelling to create from this book.

I couldn't resist these tiny ice skates.

I have my first one finished, waiting for it's pair.

Such a quick project, these would be cute as class Christmas gifts. You could put little initials on the skates, oh the cuteness!

I need to make these stockings to go with the ice skates!

This needle case is adorable.

At first I thought it was partially sewn by machine and partially sewn by hand, but it is all sewn by hand using a blanket stitch.  The little stem holds small scissors and the mushroom top has a couple of extra sheets of felt to hold needles. I had to try out contrasting thread.

I thought this was so neat! You can embroider on wood! I mean why not!? I had just never considered it. Have you? I really love these! Cute gift idea.

I love ribbon embroidery. Look how pretty the S initial turned out. So lovely! And you are given instructions on how to make it in the book.

So many pretty and creative projects to chose from, I think this book offers a good variety of embroidery projects. A perfect resource for gifts and/or heirloom pieces.

  1. I have tried to embroider here and there. I truly enjoy it during those times I am waiting to pick up my kids. :)

  2. Okay, I'm assuming that you drill holes in the wood? I'm pretty sure I don't own a needle tough enough to pierce wood, unless maybe balsa wood?
Loks like some fun projects anyway.
