Vibe = Summer 2012
Wow the blues and greens in this collection are sooooo pretty. So perfect for summer. So this is a very modified Tallulah dress from the Girl's World book by Jennifer Paganelli. I used Girl's World Vibe Anastasia in Sky for the bodice and used Carrie in grass for the skirt. The leggings peeking out are the blue lace leggings I made a while back. I thought there were going to show more.
Here's how I made the dress:
*I made the bodice front straight from the book.
*For the back I cut a 6 x 19 inch strip, folded it in half to be 3x19, then sewed two one inch wide seams on the back to create casing for my elastic. I had about 1/2 inch of raw edge left over.
*The elastic was cut to the same size as in the book.
*I sewed the casing to the bodice.
*I cut two skirt panels by folding a yard in half and cutting off 4 inches of fabric from the selvedge side. Then I unfolded the trimmed yard and cut it in half. I sewed them together on the sides.
*I cut a small apron the width of my daughter's waist by 18 inches for the length.
I folded it in half, then added the trim to the front and sewed up the sides leaving the top edge raw. The bottom being the folded edge.
*I centered the apron on the skirt front and sewed it down.
*I gathered the skirt, hemmed it, and then attached it to the dress.
*I added the trim to the bottom of the skirt.
Voila!
Let me know if you have any questions!
I received my trims from Riley Blake yesterday. Already have a dress cut out! Woo hoo!
